About the shop

The lace shop of the Pickery's in the 1920's.

My family has been in the Bruges lace business for 6 generations. Mathilde Vanneste started around 1870 to buy lace pieces from the lace makers who work at home.  She had a shop/wholesale with lace collars, lace by the meter, curtains, etc. This company lives on in subsequent generations: Willem Pickery, my great-grandfather, took over his mother's wholesale business and started selling lace even in Brussels and Paris. After his death, my great-grandmother, Marie Perneel, started the lace shop on the corner of the Vismarkt in the 1960s, which my great uncle Pieter Pickery and later my mother An Pickery continued to run. In 2022 I took over my mother's shop and I am happy to continue the family tradition.
